"God bless you."
"God bless you."
It's great when they say it first. Like the Bible you're about to hand them is going to a good place. And that's where this one went. And even though we didn't think this was the guy who the Book was meant for, God had other plans.
April and I saw a guy on the corner of Park Ln and I-75 on the Northpark Mall side as we headed to the bank. She was quick to point the dude out and said...
"There's someone for on our way back."
And I said...
"We got a Bible?"
And rejoice, rejoice we did. So when we left the bank, we got back on the road...very mindful to get in the LEFT HAND LANE as to not miss the opportunity. As we approached the light - about ten cars back from the corner - we saw the original guy we were gonna hand the Bible off to, wave on a second dude to take his place. Huh? It was like the changing of the guard outside Buckingham Palace. I'd never seen such a thing. And I'll be honest with ya, I was a little erky about this sudden change of events.
April thought that maybe - like they do downtown around The Bridge - that these two guys were sharing the corner, helping each other out, so to speak. That sounded like smart thinkingto me, so as the light turned green, we began to roll forward...as the second guy was leaving!
"Say man," I said as the guy picked up something off the ground. "Here's a couple bucks and a Bible."
He smiled. He had to of been a mixture of happy and surprised because he gave me an "oh!"
Didn't matter. He gave me the "God bless" right as I was giving him the ol' "God bless." Kinda like high noon in the old West. Two men. A dusty road. Onlookers to the right. Onlookers to the left. Fingers on the trigger...tap, tap, tap...
"God bless!" PING!
"God bless!" PING!
